A Fun and Informative Poultry Board Chicken Crossing
This board has been around about a year now, its is steadily growing but it has not become so big that its
intimidating. There are some real jokesters there, some that are kind beyond belief and the knowledge that anyone new to poultry
will find very helpful. No one there thinks there way is the only way, we are allowed to agree to disagree and move on from
there. You should try it, I've enjoyed my membership since I joined some months ago.
Its been raining non stop
here. Everything is soaked outside which makes all of the animals unhappy. I might let the birds out later but for the time
being they are best left up until some of the water dissipates.
Ballots for the ABA have gone out or arrived in
homes. For those that are members please remember to cast your ballot, for those that are not members yet please consider
supporting the ABA. They do quite a bit for our hobby.
One little white peep has hatched in the Silkie coop so
far. I need to go out tonight and candle what all the other girls are keeping warm to see how many are actually going to hatch.
I have no clue where I'm going to put them all once they leave Mom. I think I forsee another new coop in my future.
Its time for me to make a feed run while the sun is out. Chances are good for more rain today so I better grab the
opportunity while I can. Everyone stay warm and dry. Keep that warm morning oatmeal going, your birds will be totally devoted
to you if you do.

January 1, 2009Yes, we made it through what has been a very rough year for so many. Its been tight here as well but
thankfully not nearly as bad as so many others. Let's all pray that this year will bring less stress and fear for what
the next surprise will be.
Many of the smaller poultry shows are suffering, several have disappeared. That is so
sad, I enjoyed the small shoes. They were such a huge source of learning and a chance to meet other enthusiasts. My hope is
that they will re-emerge once this financial crisis is past us.
The Silkies are doing amazingly well. The girls
are adament that they will have more chicks to raise. Two of my oldest are sitting on nests yet again this year. That makes
three times for the one girl who will be four in Feb. This is the same pen that produces the boys with that dove gray color.
To all that read my blog, have a happy and safe new year. I hope all goes well for everyone and the silver lining
once again shows itself to everyone.
