A Whole Month
Can not believe I've been so busy I haven't even looked at the website in a month. The new coop is so close to completed,
the birds have moved in. Windows still need to be installed and the outside pens need to be constructed. I still have tools
and building materials stashed in the open area of the coop, guess I should work on getting them put in their proper places.
I've started converting the old chicken coop in to the new guinea coop. Removing the old pens is the biggest part and
using those to build the stronger higher roosts that the guineas prefer.
Seems I don't have white guineas,
as they matured white spots began to show up. They are opalines. Still don't know how that happened since all of my birds
are lavenders.
I think I've finally recovered from us putting on the Davy Crockett Classic. I got so busy with
that I never had a chance to get my own birds ready to show. That needs to change next year.
Some things have
changed for those that have followed the blog. I've removed one breed association and its links I had on the site. I was
not pleased with the direction the club was moving in so decided it was not for me so I resigned from my Director's position
and from the club.
I've got some new birds coming. A chinchilla boy to go with my chinchilla girl. I'm
swapping my light gray boy so I have a pair of chinchillas. There is another possible pair coming to live with me that once
we've finalized things I'll identify who the breeder is. I am pretty excited about all of the new arrivals, especially
the pair. I hope if this transaction goes through that the breeder will be very pleased that they are here with me and in
a really good home. Not many can take their birds to the vet when there is a mystery problem, I can and do. I watch them constantly
just because its fun to do so but serves a second purposed in identifying problems that need correcting.
The dogs
are calling so I had better go see what they're in to now. You all have a great day.
